RICHMOND, Ind. – For the second straight season, the Earlham College volleyball team will start its post-season journey on its home floor.

The Quakers earned the no. 3 seed for the 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament and will play host to the no. 6 seed Bluffton University Beavers in an Opening Round match on Wednesday, Nov. 6, in Druley Performance Gym.

The start time for the match is 7:00 p.m.

"There was a shortlist of things we wanted to accomplish this year, and making it back to the tournament for the second year in a row was near the top of the list. Though we are not satisfied, we are very excited to get the opportunity to play in the championships again," said Lauren Horton, Earlham's head volleyball coach.

"The growth and development of our program speaks volumes to the student-athletes and their commitment," added Horton.

Earlham finished the regular season with an 18-8 overall record, 6-3 in the HCAC, and was tied with Rose-Hulman for third in the conference standings. The Quakers earned the third seed while Rose-Hulman was relegated to fourth by virtue of Earlham's victory over the Fightin' Engineers last Wednesday.

Bluffton posted a 7-23 overall record in 2019, and was tied with Mount St. Joseph and Franklin for sixth place in the HCAC standings; the Beavers won the tiebreaker based on head-to-head results with MSJ and Franklin.

Tickets for Wednesday night's opening round match are $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens (65+) and students (12-18), and free for children 11-and-under.

Earlham students, faculty, and staff are admitted free with an Earlham I.D.

No. 4 seed Rose-Hulman will host no. 5 seed Defiance College on Wednesday evening in the other HCAC tournament opening-round game. The two opening-round winners will advance to the tournament semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Beck Center on the campus of Transylvania University.
