WILMINGTON, Ohio – Double-digit kill performances from sophomores Sarah Dickman and Caroline Mulvihill led the Earlham College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 (27-29, 25-14, 25-16, 25-22) win over Wilmington College, in a non-conference match Tuesday night at Hermann Court.
Dickman put down a team-high 15 kills on 40 swings with a .150 hitting percentage, while Mulvihill charted 10 terminations on an error-free 47 attacks and posted a .213 hitting percentage.
First-year setter Erin Wagner amassed 21 assists and senior setter Lauren Jackson tallied 16 assists for the Indiana Quakers while running an offense that hit .090 for the match. However, that was significantly better than the .013 hitting percentage posted by Wilmington; the Ohio Quakers had only slightly more kills (33) than they did attack errors (31) in the loss.
Earlham also benefited from nine service aces in the match, including two each by senior Sydney Ameluxen and Jackson. Ameluxen also had a team-high 23 digs for Earlham.
Wilmington's Jillian Wesco led the Ohio Quakers with 10 kills with three other players recording six terminations.
Earlham is back on the court for four matches this weekend in the annual Quaker Classic tournament on Friday, Sept. 13, and Saturday, Sept. 14. The Quakers open the tourney on Friday at 4:00 p.m. when they face Albion College.
