Volleyball Hosts Anderson for Senior Day Match on Sunday



RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College volleyball team returns to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Sunday when the Quakers host Anderson University for senior day. First serve is schedule for 2 p.m.

The Teams: Earlham and Anderson. The Quakers are 14-10 overall and 2-4 in the HCAC and looking to snap a 4-match losing streak after falling at Hanover College on Wednesday. The Ravens are 10-16 overall and 1-5 in conference play after falling to Bluffton University 3-1.

The Coaches: Lauren Horton enters her fourth year at Earlham and third season leading the volleyball program. The IU-East alumna was a four-year starting setter for the Red Wolves and a three-time All-American. She holds the distinction of being the NAIA's all-time assists leader for the rally-scoring era. Tami Miller, a 1993 Anderson graduate, is in her 15th season as head coach at her alma mater.

The Players: Junior Ashleigh Burton and Julia Stewart both average 3.50 kills per set to lead the Quakers' offense. Along with freshman Carly Federinko, the three all have over 200 kills and provide 68 percent of Earlham's offense. Sophomore Setter Lauren Jackson dishes out over 10 assists per set while junior libero Megan Hedinger notches over five digs per set. Anderson is led by a trio of Ravens (Shannon Kirkey, Kylie Osborne and Hannah O'Brien) who average over two kills per set.

Recent History: Earlham is 1-8 against Anderson since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The one win, which game during the 2013 season, was a non-conference match.

NCAA Statistics Leader: Setter Lauren Jackson in 27th in all of NCAA Division III volleyball in assists pet set at 10.10.

Record Start: Earlham is off to a 14-10 start to the season, the program's best since the 2007. The Quakers have not won 15 games since the 1992 campaign.

Senior Day: Meredith Beed will be playing in the final regular season weekend home match of her career on Saturday. A brief ceremony will be held prior to the match.
