Volleyball Dominant in Straight-Set Win Over Franklin

RICHMOND, Indiana - The Earlham College volleyball team hit a .284 clip while holding Franklin College to a mere .080 attack percentage in a 3-set sweep (25-16, 25-15, 25-16) of the Grizzlies in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Franklin won the first point of each of the three sets, but Earlham was the first team to 10 points in all sets and did not surrender the lead afterward. The Grizzlies had no answer for the Quakers' offense who made just three attack errors in the final two sets combined.

Freshman Julia Stewart led Earlham with 18 kills and a .354 attack percentage while fellow freshman Carly Federinko put down 11 swings to hit a .324 clip. Junior Ashleigh Burton, the reigning HCAC Offensive Player of the Week, hit .389 with eight kills and one error on 18 attack attempts.

Sophomore setter Lauren Jackson averaged a dozen assist per set while junior libero Megan Hedinger had 11 digs.

The Grizzly duo of Amanda Lelivelt and Avery each tallied six kills for Franklin in defeat.

The Quakers' aggressive serving produced eight aces and kept the Grizzlies out of system for the majority of the match.

Earlham improves to 14-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the convincing victory. The Quakers host Transylvania University on Wednesday evening.
