Volleyball Back in Win Column After Four-Set Win at St. Mary-Woods

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Earlham College volleyball team snapped a nine-match losing streak on Monday evening, defeating St. Mary-of-the-Woods College 25-15, 25-17, 18-25, 25-21 in a non-conference road match.

Sophomore Ashleigh Burton led everyone with 21 kills and a .300 attack percentage. The Indianapolis, Ind., native finished accumulated 23.5 points for the Quakers while also recording three blocks. Sophomore Skylar Muckway added ten kills and seven digs.

The Quakers led the Pomeroys to a .000 attack percentage in the first set win, and hit a blistering .324 clip in set two. St. Mary-of-the-Woods forced a fourth set by committing only one attack error to go along with 12 kills in set three, but could not force a fifth set as the Quakers took the fourth set 25-21 and the match.

Freshman setter Lauren Jackson dished out 46 assists while sophomore libero Megan Hedinger inched closed to breaking the single season digs record with a 22-dig performance.

McKenzi Kumpf led the Pomeroys with 12 kills and 15 digs in defeat.

Earlham returns to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) on Wednesday at Defiance College.
