FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Earlham College volleyball team dropped a pair a four-set matches on Saturday, falling to Franklin College 25-22, 25-13, 20-25, 26-24 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action followed by a 17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-16 loss to Fontbonne University.
In the loss to the Grizzlies, sophomore Skylar Muckway led the Quakers offensively with a career-high 20 kills. Sophomore Ashleigh Burton added 12 kills and four blocks while freshman setter Lauren Jackson dished out 35 assists. The sophomore duo of Megan Hedinger and Denisha Mataia combined for 40 digs.
Franklin was led by Kennedy Surface with 14 kills. The Grizzlies hit .151 as a team while the Quakers hit a .067 attack percentage. Franklin also forced Earlham into 10 reception errors with 10 service aces. The Quakers aced the Grizzlies four times.
In the loss to the Griffins, the Quakers used a balanced attack as Muckway, freshman Vanessa Duran, Burton. Mataia, and freshman Angelica Carpio all finished with at least six kills. Jackson had exactly 35 assists for the second straight match while Hedinger added 25 digs.
Earlham returns to the court on Wednesday for an HCAC contest at Transylvania University. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
