GAMBIER, Ohio – The Earlham College volleyball team fell to Otterbein University 25-9, 25-22, 25-16 and Albion College 25-16, 25-12, 25-17 to close out the Kenyon Invitational on Saturday.
In the loss to Otterbein, sophomore Ashleigh Burton tallied a team-high 11 kills combined with only three errors for a .364 attack percentage. Freshman Angelica Carpio added six kills while sophomore Skylar Muckway had four. Freshman setter Lauren Jackson assisted on 22 of the Quakers' 23 kills while sophomore libero Megan Hedinger tallied 15 digs.
Marie Thornton led Otterbein with seven kills. The Cardinals had 11 service aces in the match.
In the loss to Albion, Earlham hit .065 as a team. Burton again led the Quakers with nine kills while Muckway and Carpio were not far behind with eight and seven kills respectively. Jackson had 25 assists in the three-set match while Hedinger and sophomore Denisha Mataia led the back row with double digit digs.
Lauren Outwater led the Britons to victory with 10 kills while Marie Pregenzer tallied eight kills and a .438 attack percentage.
The Quakers return to action at cross-town rival Indiana University East on Tuesday. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
