RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College volleyball team brings a two-match winning streak to the Kenyon Invitational hosted by Kenyon College this weekend.
Tournament Schedule: Earlham will face host Kenyon at 6 p.m. on Friday followed by Olivet College at 8 p.m. that same evening. The Quakers will round out the tournament with matches against Otterbein University and Albion College at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively on Saturday.
The Teams: Earlham, Kenyon, Olivet, Otterbein, and Albion. The Quakers are 3-6 on the season, but have consecutive victories over Concordia Chicago 3-2 and Wilmington College 3-0. The Ladies are 6-3, but have lost their last two contests to Bluffton University and Ohio Northern University. The Comets are 4-3, but have dropped their last two matches. The Cardinals are 5-4 while the Britons stand at an even 4-4.
The Coaches: Lauren Crump enters her third year at Earlham along with her second year as head coach. The IU-East alumnae was a four-year starting setter for the Red Wolves and a three-time All-American. She holds the distinction of being the NAIA's all-time assists leader for the rally-scoring era. Amanda Krampf took over Kenyon's program in 2014 while Megan Merchant in her fifth season as head coach at Olivet. Monica Wright is in her tenth season at Otterbein while Kristin Slamer completed her fourth season on the Albion sideline in 2015.
The Players: Sophomore Ashleigh Burton leads Earlham in kills with 109, kills per set at 3.41, and blocks with 17. Freshman setter Lauren Jackson, who has back-to-back 41-assist matches, quarterbacks the Earlham offense with 8.42 assists per set. Sophomore libero Megan Hedinger averages 5.19 digs per set to lead the Quakers' back row. Delaney Swanson leads Kenyon in kills per set at 4.04 while Re'Gene Thompson has pounded 75 kills for the Comets. Andrea Miller has averages 7.58 assists per set while Ami Milligan has tallied 270 assists and 82 digs for the Britons.
Recent History: Earlham lost to Kenyon once and Olivet twice last season. The Quakers defeated Albion 3-1 at Schuckman Court on Oct. 3, 2015. Earlham has already played Otterbein this season, falling 3-0 at the Capital Otterbein Invitational.
