MEET: Georgia Tech Invitational
LOCATION: Atlanta, Ga. (George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility)
FINISH: Individual results only
THE SHORT STORY: Earlham College senior Aishat Sadiq and first-year Austin Burt each set season-best marks in their events during Friday's competition at the 2019 Georgia Tech Invitational track meet.
ON THE TRACK
- Sadiq ran a 12.14 in the women's 100m, setting a new Earlham record and climbing into the top 10 on the NCAA Division III performance lists. Based on times at the start of the day, Sadiq's time would place her seventh among D-III leaders in the 100m. She finished tied for 17th overall out of 49 competitors in Friday's event.
- Burt recorded a 9:36.82 in the men's 3000m steeplechase finishing ninth out of 12 entries in the race. He improved upon his best-in-the-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference time of 3:39.59, set last weekend during the Indiana Division III Track & Field Championships.
Sadiq will be back on the track at Georgia Tech on Saturday, April 20, when she competes in the 200m dash. That race is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
