Women's Tennis Travels to Franklin for HCAC Contest on Saturday

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's tennis team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play with a 9 a.m. match at Franklin College on Saturday.

The Teams: Earlham and Franklin. The Quakers are in search of their first win after falling at Defiance College 7-2 on Wednesday. The Grizzlies are 4-3 this season and have won their last three matches.

The Coaches: Earlham is under the direction of first-year head coach Shawn Hyden. A graduate of the University of Mount Union, Hyden comes to Earlham from Arcadia University (Pa.) where he spent the last three years as head men's and women's tennis coach. At Arcadia, Hyden led the men's team to a berth in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament Championship match. Rusty Hughes has coached the Franklin women's tennis team since 1988.

The Players: Sophomore Robyn Thomas leads the Quakers with three singles victories. Junior Kaitlin Morgan and sophomore Chloe Culler have also won singles matches for the Quakers. Karen Dringenberg leads Franklin with five singles victories.

Recent History: Earlham has not beaten Franklin since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season.
