RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's tennis team hosts Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) and Indiana University East (IU-East) in a tri-match at the EC Tennis Courts on Saturday.
The Teams: Earlham Ohio Wesleyan, and IU-East. The Quakers are looking for a win to open the year after falling to Taylor University in the season-opener on Thursday. The Battling Bishops finished 2015 with a 7-8 record while the Red Wolves are 2-0 this season after wins over Miami-Middletown and Franklin College.
The Coaches: Earlham is under the direction of first-year head coach Shawn Hyden. A graduate of the University of Mount Union, Hyden comes to Earlham from Arcadia University (Pa.) where he spent the last three years as head men's and women's tennis coach. At Arcadia, Hyden led the men's team to a berth in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament Championship match. Rob Postma enters his second season as head coach at OWU. Erskine Ratchford is in his sixth season leading IU-East.
The Players: Juniors Lexi Aligarbes and Arrita Domi lead Earlham's returners. Aligarbes played first, second, and third singles and second doubles last season. Domi played mainly second singles and first doubles. Lauren Corcoran finished last season 11-2 in singles (first and second flights) for OWU while Sally Wilhoite finished 4-9 at first singles for the Red Wolves last season.
