Women’s soccer comes up short in loss to Anderson

Mel Johnson

RICHMOND, Ind. – Anderson University netted the game's only goal in the sixth minute of play and held off all Earlham College attempts to find the equalizer as the Quakers fell to the visiting Ravens, 1-0, in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer game on Wednesday at Matlack-Messer Stadium.

Anderson's Hannah Planck notched the game-winning score just 5:40 into the contest, one-timing a pass from Jessica Pulaski into the upper-right corner of the Earlham goal, over the outstretched arms of Quaker keeper Mel Johnson.

Johnson was kept busy by an Anderson squad that outshot Earlham, 16-6, which resulted in Johnson receiving credit for eight saves. Anderson's D'Andjrea Allen charted two saves for the Ravens.

Earlham (7-8-0, 0-6-0 HCAC) is on the road for its next two contests, starting with a game at Franklin College on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 6:00 p.m.
