RICHMOND, Ind. - Earlham women's soccer sends their seniors off with a bang after a big win over Defiance.
A Defiance foul on Abby McCullogh led to a free kick that McCullogh placed directly in front of the goal. Hannah Wallhausser finished the job, heading the ball past the goalie making the score 1-0 Earlham. The remainder of the first period would go scoreless and the Quakers would enter the half up one.
Halfway through the second period Defiance got the opportunity to tie the game up. In the 70th minute the Yellow Jackets' Whitney Webb shot from the 18 box. The ball went directory over goalkeeper Raven Mcree's head. Hannah Wallhausser was not thinking overtime, and eight minutes later she scored her second goal of the night. Wallhausser beat all of Defiance's defenders and faked out the goalie for a wide open score. The last 12 minutes Defiance attacked hard, but Earlham held them off.
Both teams ended the day with six shots on goal. Earlham made some crucial mistakes, accruing nine offsides penalties.
With her two goals today, Hannah Wallhausser's goal total is now up to eight this season.
Women's soccer will play their last game this Saturday at Manchester at 1:00pm.
