Women’s soccer blanks St. Mary-of-the-Woods, 7-0

ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – Earlham first year Yana Miller scored three goals and sophomore Hailey Beel added two more to lead the Quakers to a 7-0 rout of host St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, in a non-conference women's soccer matchup Saturday at SMWC Field.

Miller notched her first score of the night in the seventh minute, and struck again in the 29th minute to give the Quakers a 3-0 lead at the break. Those two goals were sandwiched around Beel's first goal of the day, which came off an assist from Miller in the 13th minute.

Nicole Burkett extended Earlham's lead to 4-0 in the first minute of the second half with Emma Lady earning an assist. Miller completed her hat trick in the 59th minute with an unassisted score.

Beel and Esther Mano added insurance goals in the 61st and 81st minutes.

Madeline Chomentowski charted one save over her 90 minutes in the Earlham goal, while the Pomeroys' Corre Matherly was forced to make nine saves in the St. Mary-of-the-Woods goal.

Earlham returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 19, when it host Wilmington College (Ohio). Game time is 3:30 p.m.
