Women's Basketball Opens HCAC Play With Anderson on Saturday



RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's basketball team opens Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Saturday when the Quakers host Anderson University for a 1 p.m. contest at Schuckman Court.

The Teams: Earlham and Anderson. The Quakers are in search of their first win of the season after falling to Centre College on Sunday. The Ravens are also looking for a victory after Kalamazoo College defeated Anderson 65-53 on Nov. 30.

The Coaches: Shauna Watson is in her first season leading the Quakers' women's basketball program. A graduate of Hanover College, Watson spent the last two years as an assistant coach at Indiana Institute of Technology and led the Warriors to an NAIA Tournament berth in 2017. Lindsay Shade is in her third season as head coach at Anderson.

The Players: Zoe Curtis and Mariah Flynn both average double figures in scoring to lead the Quakers offensively as the two combine to score over 23 points per game. Flynn leads the squad in rebounding at 5.3 boards per contest while Camryn White dished out 4.5 assists per game. A trio of Ravens, Ryana Watson, Hannah Hawkins and Hannah Dunn, scored over six points per game. Hawkins and Dunn team up for 10 rebounds per game.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Earlham 58.5, Anderson 43.8; opponents' points per game – Earlham 74.5, Anderson 68.8; field goal percentage – Earlham 35.9, Anderson 38.5; three-point percentage – Earlham 20.8, Anderson 25.8; free throw percentage – Earlham 68.8, Anderson 60.3; rebounds per game – Earlham 37.0, Anderson 34.2; assist-to-turnover ratio – Earlham 0.56, Anderson 0.38.

Recent History: Earlham is 6-8 against Anderson since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010-11 season. The two teams split last year with the road side winning both contests.
