RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team travels to Mount St. Joseph University for a 1 p.m. Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) contest on Saturday.
The Teams: Earlham and Mount St. Joseph. The Quakers nearly notched their first win of the season on Wednesday, falling 62-59 at Defiance College on Wednesday. The Lions are also looking for their first conference win after falling to Hanover College 71-52 on Wednesday.
The Coaches: Janel Iden is his her fifth season with the Earlham women's basketball program including her second as head coach. She previously served the program as acting head coach for the 2014-15 season and an assistant coach for the two years prior. Before arriving at Earlham, Iden spent three years as an assistant coach at Mount Union. The Purple Raiders went 80-11 and appeared in three NCAA Division III Tournaments during that time. Dan Benjamin is in his fourth season at Mount St. Joseph including his second as head coach.
The Players: Senior Hannah Franklin (12.2 PPG) and freshman Shannon Pittman (10.1 PPG) both average over ten points per game to lead the Quakers offensively. Beyond that, senior Maya Luney, junior Mariah Flynn, and freshman Camryn White all score at least five points per game. Luney, who has notched double-doubles in consecutive games, averages 6.8 rebounds per game while senior Shania Feathers and sophomore Ashlea Meadows combine for 7.5 rebounds per game. Franklin dishes out nearly three assists per game. Lainee Studer and Ciera Phillips lead the Lions in scoring averaging 14.2 and 13.5 points per game respectively. Both Studer and Phillips combine to average 12.9 rebounds per contest.

2015-16 Matchups: The home team won both games last season. Earlham defeated Mount St. Joseph 82-71 on Jan. 16, 2016 while the Lions edged the Quakers 57-55 in the season finale on Feb. 20.
Recent History: Earlham is 6-6 against Mount St. Joseph since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010-11 season. The Quakers have won five of the last six meetings, however.
