Women's Basketball Faces Kenyon on the Road on Sunday



RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team continues non-conference play when the Quakers travel to Kenyon College for a 3 p.m. game with the Ladies of Kenyon College on Sunday.

The Teams: Earlham and Kenyon. The Quakers are 0-2 this season after falling to LaRoche College (Pa.) and Washington & Jefferson College (Pa.) over the weekend. The Ladies are 2-1 this year and face Bethany College (W.Va.) on Tuesday.

The Coaches: Janel Iden is his her fifth season with the Earlham women's basketball program including her third as head coach. Iden guided the Quakers to a 9-16 record in her first year as head coach. Before arriving at Earlham, Iden spent three years as an assistant coach at Mount Union. The Purple Raiders went 80-11 and appeared in three NCAA Division III Tournaments during that time. Suzanne Helfant has a 336-217 record in 21 season as head coach at Kenyon.

The Players: Hannah Franklin leads the Quakers in scoring at 22.5 points per game. The Lynn, Ind., native scored a career-high 27 points in Earlham's narrow loss to LaRoche. Junior Mariah Flynn and freshman Shannon Pittman each score over half a dozen points per game. Sophomore Ashlea Meadows leads the squad in rebounding at six boards per game. Bailey Dominguez and Alexi Donnelly combined to average 19.7 points per game for the Ladies.

Team Statistics: Points per game – Earlham 59.5, Kenyon 68.7; opponents' points per game – Earlham 72.5, Kenyon 51.3; field goal percentage – Earlham 39.5, Kenyon 37.4; three-point percentage – Earlham 29.4, Kenyon 28.2; rebounds per game – Earlham 37.5, Kenyon 44.0; assist-to-turnover ratio – Earlham 0.46, Kenyon 1.00.

Recent History: Kenyon is 2-1 against Earlham in the last three seasons. Last year, the Ladies won a thriller, hitting a three-pointer at the buzzer for a 65-64 victory.
