Claire Hewitt enters her first season as co-head coach for the Earlham College cross country and track & field programs in 2016-17.
Hewitt comes to Earlham after serving at the University of Pennsylvania as director of operations and assistant distance coach for the Penn track & field teams. While at Penn, she worked directly with Cross Country team (men) and individual (woman) NCAA National Qualifiers, 17 NCAA First Round qualifiers in track and saw 11 school records, including her own (steeplechase), taken down by the distance group.
Before Penn, Hewitt spent six seasons as an assistant coach with Saint Joseph’s University cross country and track & field teams. While at Saint Joseph’s, she coached 32 All-Conference performers as well as an NCAA Regional qualifier.
Hewitt also spent time at the high school level including two years as head girls indoor and outdoor track coach at Germantown Friends as well as one year as head girls cross country and track & field coach at Friends’ Central.
A Penn alumna, Claire was a four-year letterwinner for the Quakers. She was a three-time Academic All-American and former school record holder in the steeplechase.
Hewitt and her husband Rob, also a co-head cross country and track & field coach, reside in Richmond with their daughter Emma.
