RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College track and field team opens its outdoor season at the Wooster Invitational hosted by the College of Wooster on Friday and Saturday.
The Meet: Competition will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday followed by 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The Coaches: Earlham is led by a pair of first-year, co-head coaches. Claire Hewitt comes to Earlham from the University of Pennsylvania where she served as an assistant women's cross country coach while her husband Rob had been a high school cross country and track & field coach at national powerhouse Germantown Friends High School (Pa.) since 2004.
Women to Watch: Junior Annalee Wilson, who broke the program's indoor record for the Pole Vault this year, will compete in the outdoor version of the event at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday. Senior Sophia Richard will begin her season with the Javelin at 4 p.m. on Friday. Sophomore Rachel Wilkins, an All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) performer during the indoor season, will run in the 1,500-Meter Run and the 800-Meter Run. The Quakers will also have teams running in the 4-x-100-Meter and 4-x-400-Meter Relays.
Men's To Watch: Junior Marcaus Cooper, who placed second in the Triple Jump at the 2016 HCAC Outdoor Championships, begins his quest to finish one spot better in the event on Saturday morning. Senior Gabriel Penk, an All-HCAC honoree in cross country, is scheduled to run in the 5,000-Meter Run.
