Indoor Track and Field Opens 2017 with Personal Bests

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Eleven members of the Earlham College track and field team set indoor personal bests at the Robert H. Johnson Little Giant Open hosted by Wabash College on Saturday.

On the women's side, sophomore Annalee Wilson nearly tied her lifetime indoor best and the school record (9' ¼") in the Pole Vault with a jump of 9 0". Wilson also won her heat in the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 30.70, breaking her past personal best by over 1.5 seconds. Freshman Camille van der Vaart and Summia Tora also broke personal records in the 200-Meter Dash.

On the men's side, senior Gabriel Penk set a personal and school record in the indoor Mile, running the race in 4:34.03 to finish second in heat two. Freshmen Oliver Daniel and Riley Green also tallied personal bests in the event.

In the 60-Meter Dash, senior Akul Sharma broker his personal best by a tenth of a second, running the dash in 7.57. Sophomore Justin Kerobo also earned a personal best in the event.

The Quakers 1,600 Sprint Medley Relay team of Wilson, sophomore Lydia Harvey, freshman Vi Tran, and sophomore Rachel Wilkins, won the event with a time of 4:52.35.

Earlham returns to action at the Rose-Hulman Friday Night Invite on Friday, Jan. 20.
