GRANVILLE, Ohio – Earlham College men's track and field continued its indoor season at Saturday's Bob Shannon Invitational, hosted by Denison University.
Earlham earned 16 points to place 11th overall in the 14-team meet, which included multiple teams from the North Coast Athletic Conference and the UAA, as well as Earlham's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference-rival Transylvania University. Carnegie Mellon won the meet with 189.50 points. Earlham was focused on improving their seed times in the meet, and the number of multiple-event entries for the Quakers was limited.
EARLHAM ATHLETE OF THE DAY
First year Austin Burt turned in Earlham's top performance of the day with his time of 4:32.75 in the mile run. He placed sixth overall in the event, but shaved nearly five seconds off his personal best time of 4:37.28 set earlier last week at the Fighting Scots Invitational.
Burt picked up an additional single point for the Quakers in the 800m run, where he finished eighth overall with a time of 2:04.20.
- Jake Patton finished third overall in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.12 seconds. That mark was slightly off his season-best time of 9.09 set last weekend at Wooster.
- Patton also ran the opening leg for Earlham's 4x400m relay team, and the quartet of Patton, Emanuel Faria, Drew Fitzgibbon, and Ian Shriner posted a time of 3:35.18.
Earlham men's track heads to Greencastle, Ind., next Saturday, Feb. 2, to compete in the DePauw University Invitational.
