GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Earlham College men's track runners posted six top-four finishes and some of their top times of the season, while leading the Quakers to a fourth place showing out of eight teams at the DePauw University Tiger Small College Invitational, Friday evening at the DePauw Indoor Tennis and Track Center.
The Quakers' 4 x 200m relay team of Justin Kerabo, Rance Albert, Michael Grady, and Jared Ammon had the top showing of the night with a second-place finish, after posting a season-best time of 1:43.16.
Earlham teams turned in third place results in the 4 x 400m and distance medley relay events. In the 4 x 400m, Ian Shriner, Nata Papachristos, Grady, and Emanuel Faria crossed the line in a season-best time of 3:35.31, while the DMR squad of Shriner, Drew Fitzgibbon, Israel Ramos, and Bini Tumbo turned in a time of 11:27.55.
Grady (55.00) and Fitzgibbon (55.70) finished third and fourth in the 400m, while Papachristos (4:33.93) was fourth in the Mile Run. Both Grady's time in the 400m and Papachristos' time in the Mile Run were season-best marks in those events by an Earlham men's runner.
Noah Scherf finished sixth in the 3000m run with a season-best time of 9:07.42, while Faria was seventh in the 800m run after finishing with a time of 2:05.60.
"Tonight was an amazing team effort," said Evander Wells, Earlham assistant track and field coach. "The support everyone showed for whomever was competing was amazing. From the first event to the last, the energy tonight was extraordinary and the team's performance marks continue to improve."
Earlham men's track and field will return to competition on Saturday, Feb. 10, when they return to Greencastle, Ind., for the DePauw Invitational.
