RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's soccer team hosts Mount St. Joseph University in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) contest at Matlack Field on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Mount St. Joseph. The Quakers enter the game with an even 5-5-0 overall record and a 1-1-0 HCAC record after falling to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 2-0 on Wednesday. The Lions are 6-2-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference after a 1-1 draw with Transylvania University on Wednesday.
The Coaches: Sam Byrd enters his second season as head men's soccer coach at his alma mater. The 2003 alumnus served as an assistant coach for longtime head coach Roy Messer for two seasons prior to being promoted to head coach in May of 2015. Rudy Argueta enters his seventh year as head men's soccer coach at MSJ.
The Players: Senior Bret Marshall and freshman Micah Roland are the two Quakers who have scored multiple goals this season. Sophomore goalkeeper Nicola Manni has a 4-2 record as Earlham's goalkeeper. Teddy Kerr has scored nine of MSJ's 30 team goals this season.
Recent History: Earlham is 3-2-1 against MSJ since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Quakers claimed a 2-1 victory at Mount St. Joseph thanks to a game-winning goal from TiQi Brown.
