Men's Soccer Shuts Out Wilmington on the Road

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Senior Bret Marshall broke a scoreless tie in the 73rd minute lifting the Earlham College men's soccer team over Wilmington College in the Quaker Bowl on Wednesday.

Marshall broke through the Wilmington defense and fired a host past the visiting goalkeeper, Nick Baker, for his third goal of the season. The goal was also Marshall's third game-winning goal and second in as many games.

Earlham took nine shots as a team while Wilmington had seven. The visiting Quakers had two shots on goal while the home Quakers also had two. .

Earlham goalkeeper Nicola Manni earned the shutout win as he made one save in the game. Individually, junior Nicholas Dey and freshman Padgett Gustavson each took two shots to lead Earlham's offense.

The men's soccer team stands at 4-3 on the season after consecutive wins. Earlham will host Otterbein University at Matlack Field on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
