EMORY, Va. - Earlham College men's soccer junior Nicholas Dey scored his first goal of the season, but Emory & Henry netted three goals to defeat the Quakers 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
All four of the game's goals were scored in the first half. Zach Quest was assisted by Tyequis Stallins as he managed to score the first goal for Emory & Henry in the 6th minute. The Quakers then made the move as Dey tied the game with a goal in the 28th minute. Emory & Henry rounded up the first half with two goals in 1:02.
Neither team scored in the second half despite the Wasps playing down a man for over 75 minutes after their starting goalkeeper, Didier Grillet, was sent off via a red card.
Senior Taylen Alexander took the loss allowing three goals and making three saves in the first half.. Sophomore Nicola Manni served as the Quakers' goalie for the second half, where he managed to secure one save.
Earlham took 11 shots in the game compared to nine for Emory & Henry. The Wasps earned six corner kicks compared to four for Earlham.
The Quakers are 2-3 on the year and travel to Wooster on Saturday, Sept. 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
