RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's soccer team opens the 2016 with the first of three consecutive home games on Friday, Sept. 2. The Quakers will host the Bluejays of Elmhurst College at 5 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Elmhurst. The Quakers finished last season 9-7-1 overall and advanced to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament semifinals. The Bluejays finished last season 8-8-3 and made their second straight appearance in the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament.
The Coaches: Sam Byrd enters his second season as head men's soccer coach at his alma mater. The 2003 alumnus served as an assistant coach for longtime head coach Roy Messer for two seasons prior to being promoted to head coach in May of 2015. Dave Di Tomasso is in his 12th season leading the Elmhurst men's soccer program. He guided the Bluejays to an NCAA Division III Tournament berth in 2009.
The Players: Junior Nicholas Dey, a First Team All-HCAC selection last season, returns to lead the Quakers' offense. Dey netted a team-high ten goals in 2015 en route to a 21-point year.
