THE SHORT STORY: Earlham College men's golf gained some ground on the rest of the field, but rain shortened Sunday's second round of The Nye Intercollegiate to just nine holes and the Quakers finished the tournament tied for seventh in the field of 11 teams.
OFF THE TEE
- Earlham fired a 154 over nine holes in Sunday's second round, and finished the tournament with a 472 (+40). The Quakers were tied with the host squad from the College of Wooster, who fired a 314 in Saturday's first round and a 158 on Sunday.
- Garrett Schuler shot a 37 over nine holes on Sunday and finished with a six-over 114. He was tied with Jared Stone, who added a 36 from Sunday to his first round of 78. Both golfers were tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard.
- Graham Sherard finished tied for 19th with a 115 (+7), after shooting a 38 in the second round.
- Denison's Ben Scherman and Baldwin Wallace's Roni Shin were tied atop the leaderboard each with an even-par 108. Denison claimed the team title with a 27-hole score of 437 (+5), after carding a 143 on Sunday.
Earlham men's golf concludes its 2018-19 season on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20, when it hosts the Earlham College Spring Invitational at the Richmond Elks Lodge & Country Club in Richmond, Ind.
