Jason Grace Named Head Men's Lacrosse Coach

RICHMOND, Ind. – Director of athletics Mike Bergum announced the hiring of Jason Grace as Earlham's first head men's lacrosse coach on Tuesday.

"Jason is going to be a great addition to the athletics department and someone who is going to work extremely hard to introduce men's lacrosse on campus," Bergum said.  "His familiarity with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) and a foothold with lacrosse on the East Coast will allow Jason to recruit quality student-athletes to Earlham."

Grace comes to Earlham from Anne Arundel Community College (Md.) where he served as head men's lacrosse coach for two seasons. Grace managed all aspects of the program while also developing alumni and local business support for the program. He was honored with the Maryland Junior College Coach of the Year award in 2015 and the NJCAA Region XX Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2016.

No stranger to the HCAC or the Ohio River Lacrosse League (ORLC), Grace spent two seasons as an assistant men's lacrosse coach at Hanover College. While at Hanover, he assisted the head coach in all aspects of coaching, recruiting, and administering an NCAA Division III varsity men's lacrosse program.

Grace also has experience at the NCAA Division I club level having spent one season as an assistant coach at Oregon State University and as a head coach at the high school level at Central York High School in York, Pa.

"There are a few things that excite me about starting the men's lacrosse program at Earlham College," said Grace.  "It is one thing to be a link in a chain, but it's completely different to start the chain yourself.  Being a player that was part of a start-up program was a fun experience, but being able to do it at the college level as a coach is just as exciting. I am ready to go out and get the Earlham name out there in the lacrosse community."

Grace graduated from York College of Pennsylvania in 2004 with a degree in sports management. He went on to earn a master's degree from Ohio University in 2016.

Grace will have the 2016-17 year to recruit before competition in the ORLC begins in 2017-18.
