RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College field hockey senior Maite Turlings and sophomore Sofia Salvatore were both named to the 2018 Longstreth / National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Great Lakes Region team, which was unveiled Wednesday.
Salvatore, a forward, is a first-time All-Great Lakes Region selection. She received Second Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in early November, after a 2018 season in which she was tied for seventh in the NCAC with 24 points on nine goals and six assists.
Turlings, who is a Second Team All-Great Lakes Region selection for the third consecutive season, also earned Second Team All-NCAC honors in 2018. She notched seven goals and seven assists for 21 points this season, and finished her career with 20 goals and 18 assists for 58 points.
Earlham field hockey posted an 8-11 overall record under Head Coach Emily Girasole, with a 4-10 ledger in the NCAC. The eight wins were the most for Earlham field hockey since back-to-back 9-9-1 seasons in 1992 and 1993.
Among the Quaker victories were wins over conference foe Wittenberg, Earlham's first win over the Tigers since 1992, and a Senior Day triumph over DePauw that was the program's first over the Yellow and Black since 1993.
