RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College field hockey team turned in the fourth-highest GPA among all Division III field hockey programs and was the recipient of a Zag Field Hockey Division III National Academic Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), when the list of award recipients was unveiled Tuesday by the NFHCA office.
Earlham field hockey ranked fourth among all Division III programs with a 3.65 GPA. Other schools joining Earlham among the top five were Springfield College, Bowdoin College, Swarthmore College, and Amherst College.
A total of 130 Division III programs received an NFHCA National Academic Team Award for recording a 3.30-or-higher GPA during the Fall 2017 semester.
Led by first-year Head Coach Emily Girasole,m Earlham field hockey finished the 2017 season with a 6-10 overall record, 5-9 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. The Quakers' five victories in conference play was the most for the program since joining the ranks of Division III 1989.
