Field Hockey Falls to Wittenberg on Senior Day


RICHMOND, Ind. – Junior Kaitlyn Brunner scored 2:19 into the contest, but the Wittenberg Tigers scored six unanswered goals to defeat the Earlham College field hockey team 6-1 at Darrell Beane Stadium on Saturday.

Junior Megan Hut found Brunner open in the strike circle for Kaitlyn Brunner's fifth goals of the season. The Tigers would answer in the 27th minute as the game went into halftime deadlocked 1-1.

Wittenberg tallied five goals in the second half to pull away for the victory.

Hut and freshman Maite Turlings each fired three shots. Turlings also added a defensive save in the contest. Three Tigers finished with five shots each.

Senior Kate Korobkina took the loss, making eight saves in her final collegiate game. Seniors Tori Posey and Sam Bielanski also ended their careers on Saturday.

Earlham ends its season with a 4-13 record and a 3-11 mark in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition.
