The Quakers' afternoon began strongly as senior James Johnson picked off Logan Scott and returned it for a touchdown on the second play from scrimmage. Leading 7-0, the Earlham defense could not hold as the Yellow Jackets scored on their next three possessions to take a 19-7 lead.

Another touchdown two possessions late put Defiance up 26-7, but Anderson found sophomore Elijah Bilal for a 21-yard touchdown with just over a minute to play in the first quarter.

Defiance (2-3, 1-2 HCAC) found the end zone twice more in the second quarter to lead 39-14 at the break. In the second half, the Yellow Jackets scored three touchdowns while Earlham had two, both from Hundley.

Defiance outgained Earlham 516-337 in the game including a 196-46 edge in rushing. Scott led Defiance with 239 yards through the air and six touchdowns. Demaria Washington added 93 yards on the ground and two scores.
