HANOVER, Ind. — The Earlham College football team faced one of the top teams in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday as the Quakers visited Hanover College.

The co-leaders in the HCAC, the Panthers posted a 55-10 victory to raise their record to 6-2 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

Earlham got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when Ryan Acosta (San Juan, PR, Commonwealth) booted a 32-yard field goal at the 1:57 mark.

Tre Stephens (Terre Haute, IN, South) capped off a big day with a 1-yard touchdown run late in the contest. Stephens ran for a career-high 140 yards on 27 carries.

Offensively, the Quakers had 418 total yards. Matt Couch (Versailles, KY, Woodford County) completed 16-of-35 passes for 191 yards. Alonzo Genelin (Arcadia, WI, Arcadia) was 8-of-15 for 86 yards.

The Quakers had five receivers with at least four grabs. Marcus Coby (Coral Springs, FL, Heritage) had five for 58 yards. Jalen Kenner (Reserve, LA, East St. John) had five for 42 yards.

Stephens had four catches for 65 yards, giving him 205 yards of total offense. Lance Sherwood (Mt. Morris, MI, Kearsley) finished with four catches for 49 yards, while Alex Kerby (Winnsboro, TX, Minneola) had four receptions for 29 yards.  

Justin Darden (Muncie, IN, Central) led the Earlham defense with seven tackles, while Kaleb Lingg (Dayton, OH, Northridge) added six stops.

Junior Jean (Miami, FL, Mater Academy) had an interception and John Edouassaint (West Palm Beach, FL, Palm Beach Lakes) had a fumble recovery.

Earlham (1-7, 1-5) plays its final home contest of the season next Saturday against the College of Mount St. Joseph. The HCAC affair gets underway at 1:30 p.m.
