Quakers Have Six HCAC Players to Watch
RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College football team had six members recognized as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its Players to Watch list on Wednesday.

Seniors Dakota McElley (Lawrenceburg, IN, Lawrenceburg), Jaysn Murphy (Winchester, IN, Winchester) and T.J. Sanders (Depauw, IN, North Harrison) along with juniors Ryan Hayes (New Lebanon, OH, Dixie), Kaleb Lingg (Dayton, OH, Northridge) and Justin Darden (Muncie, IN, Central) were all on the list. Hayes and Lingg were All-HCAC Second Team last fall with Murphy and Darden receiving All-HCAC Honorable Mention.
Murphy and Lingg are the top receivers back for the Quakers, while Sanders anchors the offensive line. Hayes, who was Earlham's top offensive lineman a year ago is moving to tight end.

Murphy led Earlham with 35 catches for 458 yards and two scores. Lingg was a versatile performer for the Quakers seeing action as a receiver for the entire season and late in the year played quarterback in several games due to injuries. He was the team's second-leading receiver with 34 grabs for 425 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, McElley had 47 tackles in 2012. Darden was fifth in tackles for the Quakers with 54 and he picked off a pair of passes, while recovering two fumbles.

Franklin College was selected as the favorite in the pre-season poll also released on Wednesday. The Grizzlies won the conference for the second straight year in 2011 with an 8-0 mark and a 10-2 overall record. Earlham was in the ninth spot.

The Quakers begin the season at home against Oberlin College on Sept. 3. Earlham's first HCAC contest of the season is at home against Bluffton University on Sept. 15.
