The Quaker baseball team competed in the Maroon and White World Series. The MWWS is an annual baseball tradition that consists of Earlham baseball players divided amongst two teams. Unlike past years, this year's series was a one game "Winner Take All" format with a prize of a BBQ dinner for the champions.
The Maroon team was victorious after scoring the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 6-5 and they were able to hold the White team scoreless for the next three innings.
Alex Arovits led the Maroon team at the plate by going three-for-three with two doubles and a single.
"It was good to see the underdogs pull through," Arovits said.
Ethan Bailey, Mike Messina and John Cornett also contributed with hits for the Maroon team.
Alex Arovits and Adam Warning were both awarded the MVP award for this year's MWWS.
The second annual Earlham Baseball Homerun Derby was also. There was a close battle between players and the coaches, but the coaches pulled through with the victory in the final round.
In response to the outcome Ted Williams said, "It was competitive and it was a great way to end our fall season."
