Women's T&F takes first place in home meet

RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College women's track and field won seven events on its way to finishing first out of four teams at Thursday's Earlham Duals, held at Darrell Beane Stadium.

Earlham opened the women's events on a winning note in the 800 sprint medley, with the team of Chloe Lamenzo, Aisha Sadiq, Leilah Hicks, and Ellie Haland finishing first with a time of 1:54.26.

The Quakers also posted the top time in the 4 x 100m relay, with Lamenzo, Hicks, Hailey Beel, and Sadiq clocking a time of 51.06 seconds, and in the 1600 sprint medley, where Beel, Hicks, Khalifeh, and Haland crossed the line in 4:23.24.

In the individual track events, Megan Hut won the 1500m run with a time of 5:20.32, while Ana Sosa-Ebert took first place in the 2000m steeplechase with a time of 8:02.07. Lindsey Gearin (8:19.89) and Eliza Balch (9:19.38) finished second and third in the steeplechase to give the Quakers the 1-2-3 finish.

Jasmine Lorenzana took first place in the 800m with a time of 2:32.67, and in the field events Chloe Lamenzo finished first in the triple jump after a leap of 36-0.

As a team, Earlham tallied 78 points to take first place in the Quakers' first home track and field event in nearly 10 years. Mount St. Joseph was second with 59 points, followed by Notre Dame (Ohio) with 57 points, and Franklin College with 43 points.

Earlham track and field returns to action on Friday, March 30, when the Quakers travel to Springfield, Ohio, to compete in the Wittenberg Invitational.
