RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College first year Leilah Hicks was named the Outstanding Female Freshman Field Athlete and joined six other Quaker women's track and field athletes on the All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference teams, which were unveiled Wednesday.
Hicks took first place honors in the 200m dash (26.67 seconds) at last Saturday's HCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at Anderson University, to merit First Team All-HCAC honors. Haland, Beel, Sosa-Ebert, and Lorenzana claimed first place in the distance medley relay (12:59.19) with a new Earlham record time to merit their First Team All-HCAC designation.
Lamenzo and Sadiq joined Hicks and Beel to post a second-place finish with an Earlham record time in the 4 x 200m relay (1:48.76) to earn Second Team All-HCAC honors. Lamenzo, Hicks, Beel, and Haland repeated as Second Team honorees with their second-place showing in the 4 x 400m relay (4:13.33).
Haland and Lorenzana finished second (2:23.08) and third (2:28.44) respectively in the 800m run, also placing them in All-HCAC range. Haland's second-place showing set a new Earlham indoor record in the process.
