Lamenzo Breaks Indoor Triple Jump Record for Women's Track and Field at UIndy

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Earlham College women's track and field team opened its indoor season at the University of Indianapolis Season Opener, a non-team scored event, on Saturday afternoon.

Chloe Lamenzo broke the school record in the indoor triple jump by vaulting 35' 11 ¼" to finish in runner up in the event. The Olympia, Washington, native broke Ramona Hemmings leap of 25' 8 ½" in 2011. Lamenzo also placed as the top Quaker in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.23 seconds and a 10th-place finish.

Leilah Hicks was also a bright spot for Earlham as she took fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.70. Hailey Beel also placed in the top 15 in the event.

In the 400-meter dash, Beel took seventh with a time of 1:07.31 while Esther Mano finished in ninth. In the 800-meter dash, the Earlham duo of Jasmine Lorenzana (2:37.30) and Megan Hut (2:40.69) finished inside the top eight. Rachel Wilkins took third in the mile run, finishing the event in 5:48.82.

Earlham will return to track on Jan. 12, 2018 at the Ron Althoff Classic hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
