RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's tennis team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play this Wednesday when they host Defiance College. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Defiance. Earlham comes off a victory over Ohio Christian and is 4-4 on the season. They are 0-2 in HCAC play. The Yellow Jackets are 1-9 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
The Coaches: Shawn Hyden enters his second season as the head women's tennis coach at Earlham. In his first season with the program, Hyden led the men's team to the HCAC Tournament finals for the first time since the 2014-2015 season. This season Hyden led the women's team to its best start since the 2012-2013 season. Gonzalo Vivas is in his first season as the head coach of the Defiance women's team.
The Players: The doubles pairing of junior Yunjoo Shin and freshman Alexandra Canaday have been the most successful pairing for the Quakers, going 4-1 on the season and currently riding a three match winning streak. Shin is also the most successful singles player with an overall record of 7-1. Senior Arrita Domi has two wins on the season, which is the most since her freshman campaign.
The History: Last season the Quakers fell to the Yellow Jackets by a score of 7-2.
