RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's tennis team hosts Capital University this Thursday. The match is slated to start at 4:00 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Capital. Earlham started off the season strong with a sweep of the University of Miami Middletown, however they suffered a minor setback following a loss to Trine University. Capital University fell in its season opener to Transylvania University 7-2.
The Coaches: Shawn Hyden enters his second season as the head women's tennis coach at Earlham. In his first season with the program, Hyden led the men's team to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament finals for the first time since the 2014-2015 season. This season Hyden led the women's team to its first victory since the 2014-2015 season. The Capital Crusader's first year head coach is Troy Patterson. Patterson came to Capital after serving as the assistant coach at North Carolina Wesleyan University.
The Players: Junior Yunjoo Shin is undefeated this season in singles and will look to continue that on Wednesday. Freshmen Alexandra Canaday and Kathryn Hulleman have been valuable additions to the Quakers this season, seeing immediate action in the starting lineup. Earlham's most successful doubles team this season has been the combination of senior Arrita Domi and Canaday.
The History: The last time the Quakers met the Crusaders was during the 2014-2015 season. Capital came away with a close 5-4 victory in that match.
