RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's tennis team hosts Indiana Tech in a non-conference match at the Earlham Tennis Courts on Monday.
The Teams: Earlham and Indiana Tech. The Quakers are 0-8 this season after falling to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) foe Manchester University 9-0 on Saturday. The Warriors are 1-1 this year after a loss to Taylor University 7-2 and an 8-1 victory over Goshen College on Sept. 12.
The Coaches: Earlham is under the direction of first-year head coach Shawn Hyden. A graduate of the University of Mount Union, Hyden comes to Earlham from Arcadia University (Pa.) where he spent the last three years as head men's and women's tennis coach. At Arcadia, Hyden led the men's team to a berth in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament Championship match. Brandt Danals is in his second season as head coach at Indiana Tech.
The Players: Sophomores Chloe Culler (fourth singles at Adrian) and Robyn Thomas (fifth singles vs. Berea) have each won singles flights for the Quakers this season. Raquel Manzoni has won of her first singles matches in dual matches this year. Anabell Cordeor, playing second singles for the Warriors, has won both her singles matches.
