RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's soccer team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action when the Quakers host league-leading Franklin College as part of Homecoming Weekend on Saturday. Kickoff from Matlack-Messer Stadium is slated for 1 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Franklin. The Quakers are 6-9-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the conference after a narrow 1-0 loss at Franklin College on Wednesday afternoon. The Grizzlies are 9-4-0 overall and boast a 5-1 mark in the HCAC after a 5-1 win over Transylvania University on Wednesday.
The Coaches: Chad Hardin is in his second year as Earlham's head women's soccer coach. He previously achieved a 43-42-5 record in five seasons at Marian University under Hardin after a 6-27-2 mark the previous two seasons. Cristin Allen, a former assistant coach at DePauw University, is in her first season leading the Grizzlies.
The Players: A trio of freshmen lead Earlham offensively. Freshman Chloe Lamenzo has scored nine goals and dished out five assists for 23 points while freshman Yana Miller has scored seven goals and freshman Jordan Blackburne found the back of the net six times. Sophomore goalkeeper Sari Stissi has a 1.52 goals against average and notched her third shutout of the season at Defiance last Wednesday. Maddie Fleet, the HCAC's offensive leader, has 15 goals and six assists for 36 points to lead Franklin offensively. Clare Lenart has netted seven goals.
Youth Movement: Earlham's top four offensive producers are all freshmen. Furthermore, 75 of 92 offensive points have come from first-years.
Recent History: Earlham is 3-3-1 against Franklin since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Grizzlies have won the last two meetings in shutout fashion.
Matlack-Messer Stadium Dedication: A brief dedication ceremony for the new Matlack-Messer Stadium will be held at the conclusion of the women's soccer contest.
