RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's soccer team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play when the Quakers host Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for a 3:30 p.m. game on Tuesday.
The Teams: Earlham and Rose-Hulman. The Quakers are 5-5-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play after a 2-1 win over Bluffton University in the HCAC opener on Saturday. The Fightin' Engineers stand at 3-7 on the season after dropping their HCAC opener 1-0 at Transylvania University.
The Coaches: Chad Hardin is in his second year as Earlham's head women's soccer coach. He previously achieved a 43-42-5 record in five seasons at Marian University under Hardin after a 6-27-2 mark the previous two seasons. Amy Helliwell is in her ninth season as head women's soccer coach at Rose-Hulman. She has led the Engineers to HCAC Tournament berths in three of the last four seasons.
The Players: A trio of freshmen lead Earlham offensively. Freshman Chloe Lamenzo has scored eight goals and dished out three assists for 19 points while freshman Yana Miller has scored six goals while freshmen Jordan Blackburne has four goals and Erin Welsh, how has dished out a team-high eight assists, has found the back of the net three times. Sophomore goalkeeper Sari Stissi has a 1.50 goals against average. A pair of sophomores, Maddy Twetten and Jessica Wells, lead the Engineers with four goals each.
Youth Movement: Earlham's top four offensive producers are all freshmen. Furthermore, 62 of 76 offensive points have come from first-years.
Matlack-Messer Stadium: Earlham is 4-1 at the brand new Matlack-Messer Stadium this season with the lone loss coming at the hands of Marietta College.
Recent History: Earlham is 2-5-0 against Rose-Hulman since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Quakers won 3-0 last season. The Engineers have won the last five meetings.
