RICHMOND, Indiana – Earlham College Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Molly Macdonald announced the hiring of Lindsey Grundfast as the program's assistant coach on Friday.
"We're extremely excited to have Lindsey [Grundfast] join our Earlham family," Macdonald said." She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our staff. With her time as a member of an inaugural program at Dominican College, Lindsey is extremely prepared to help lead our team and create a winning program both on and off the field."
Grundfast comes to Earlham from Derry, New Hampshire, where she had been an educator at Quarrybrook Experiential Education Center since 2014. Grundfast managed and taught multi-disciplinary lessons to students from grades pre-kindergarten to college from diverse communities and background. She also developed international education programing for students from Afghanistan and Rwanda.
In addition to her 10 years in education, Grundfast also has extensive coaching experience. She spent the 2016-17 academic year coaching women's basketball at Bishop Guertin High School and women's lacrosse at Pinkerton Academy in New Hampshire. Grundfast, who has also coached club lacrosse at various levels since 2014, spent the 2014 season with the Bloomington (Indiana) Girls' Lacrosse Club.
"I am extremely excited for this opportunity and elated to be a part of a new program again," Grundfast said. "I am grateful to be coaching alongside Molly, and to help this program develop into a top competitor in the Midwest."
Grundfast also has collegiate coaching experience having spent the 2011 season as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz. She assisted the head coach with managing and planning daily practices, preparation for intercollegiate contests and supervised the strength training program.
As a player, Grundfast started all for years at NCAA Division II Dominican College (New York) as a goalie. She ranked in the top 10 in the nation in saves per game in 2008 and 2009. A three-year captain, Grundfast ranks first in career saves (629) at Dominican as well as second in career saves per game (12.84).
Grundfast graduated from Dominican in 2010 with a degree in mathematics and adolescence education. She went on to complete a Master of Science in Education from SUNY New Paltz in 2012.
Earlham will open its first women's lacrosse season against Transylvania University on March 7.
