RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team hosts Defiance College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) contest at Schuckman Court on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Defiance. The Quakers are looking to snap a four-game losing streak after falling to Franklin College 61-48 on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets stand at 11-8 overall and 8-4 in the HCAC and on a four-game winning streak after a 75-49 triumph over Hanover College on Wednesday.
The Coaches: Earlham is under the direction of interim head coach Kevin Hayden. A Ball State University alumnus, Hayden served as an assistant men's basketball coach for the previous two seasons along with his duties as assistant to the director of athletics. Jessica Morris, who has guided Defiance to four consecutive HCAC Tournament appearances, is in her fifth season as the Yellow Jackets' head coach.
The Players: Senior Hannah Franklin, who recently became the 13th member of the 1,000-point club, leads the Quakers in scoring at 11.0 per game while also helping others score, dishing out nearly three assists per contest. Freshman Shannon Pittman scorers nine points per game while junior Mariah Flynn, freshman Camryn White, and senior Lexi McFarland are the other Quakers who score over five points per game. Senior Maya Luney leads the squad in rebounding at 6.3 points per game. Kelsey Tietje leads both Defiance and the HCAC in points per game at 20.8 and rebounds per contest at 13.9. She needs just 21 points to become the all-time leading scorer at Defiance.

1,000-Point Scorer: Hannah Franklin became the 13th member of the 1,000-point club with a 12-point performance against Franklin on Saturday. The Lynn, Indiana native hit a jumper to open the fourth quarter to surpass the 1,000-point plateau.
First Time Around: Defiance held home court with a narrow 62-59 win over Earlham on Jan. 11.
Recent History: Earlham is 3-10 against Defiance since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010-11 season. The teams have split the previous three seasons.
