ANDERSON, Indiana – Weather shortened the Earlham College track and field team's day on day one of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon.
Because so many events got moved to tomorrow (Saturday), the Quakers had just one individual score. Junior Annalee Wilson tied for third place in the pole vault, clearing 10' 1 ½". Wilson tied with Sarah Oliver of Bluffton University for the bronze while Erin Trimpe of Hanover College won the event, clearing 11' 6 ¾".
Senior Hannah Franklin qualified for the finals in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles, finishing seventh and fourth respectively in the events. The Lynn, Indiana native finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1:10.19 compared to a 16.67-second finish in the 100-meter hurdles.
Sophomore Rachel Wilkins finished fourth in the prelims of the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.01, earning her a spot in tomorrow's finals. Hannah Wappes of Manchester University posted the top time (2:21.07) in the event.
Sophomore Lydia Harvey nearly earned qualification into the finals of the 400-meter dash, but finished ninth with a personal best time of 1:03.64.
