CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Earlham College track and field team tallied eight top four finishes at the Mount St. Joseph University Invitational on Saturday.
On the men's side, sophomore Daniel Kibet finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.12. Sam Berth of Mount St. Joseph won the event, finishing the race in 2:01.09. Fellow freshman JP Dongo also took fourth in the pole vault. The Greenwich, Connecticut native vaulted 8' ½".
As a team, Earlham finished in fifth place with 23.5 points.
On the women's side, senior Sophia Richard topped the javelin event with a throw of 104' 5" to beat the field by over nine feet. The Santa Fe, New Mexico native also took second place in the discus with a hurl of 104' 8" while setting a personal best in the process.
Senior Hannah Franklin finished runner-up in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Franklin finished the shorter of the two races in 16.88 seconds and ended the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.50. Sophomore Victoria Trezona took second place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 22:01.06.
As a team, the Quakers placed sixth with 49 points.
Earlham returns to action for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Outdoor Championships hosted by Anderson University next weekend.
