RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College track and field team travels to the Defiance College Open on Friday.
The Meet: Both field and running events are scheduled to begin at approximately 4 p.m.
The Coaches: Earlham is led by a pair of first-year, co-head coaches. Claire Hewitt comes to Earlham from the University of Pennsylvania where she served as an assistant women's cross country coach while her husband Rob had been a high school cross country and track & field coach at national powerhouse Germantown Friends High School (Pa.) since 2004.
Women to Watch: Sophomore Rachel Wilkins, an All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) selection in cross country this past fall, will run in the 800-Meter Dash, an event she placed in at the DePauw Small College Invite last Friday. Junior Annalee Wilson is scheduled to compete in the Pole Vault as well as the 200-Meter Dash
Men's To Watch: Senior Gabriel Penk, an All-HCAC selection in cross country, will race in the Mile Run, fresh off of his 13-second personal best in the 3,000-Meter Run last Friday. The Portland, Oregon native will compete against five runners from DePauw University and a Hanover College runner. Junior Marcaus Cooper, who finished second in the HCAC in the Triple Jump both indoor and outdoor last season, will compete in the event.
