Claire Hewitt is in her second season as co-head coach for the Earlham College cross country and track & field programs in 2017-18.
During her first year at Earlham, Hewitt led the cross country programs to a pair of sixth place finishes in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, marking the Quakers' best finish in either gender since 2013. In addition, five Quakers earned All-HCAC recognition in track & field under Hewitt's guidance.
Hewitt comes to Earlham after serving at the University of Pennsylvania as director of operations and assistant distance coach for the Penn track & field teams. Before Penn, she spent six seasons as an assistant coach with Saint Joseph’s University cross country and track & field teams. While at Saint Joseph’s, she coached 32 All-Conference performances as well as an NCAA Regional qualifier.
Hewitt also spent time at the high school level including two years as head girls indoor and outdoor track coach at Germantown Friends as well as one year as head girls cross country and track & field coach at Friends Central.
A Penn alumnae, Hewitt was a four-year letterwinner for the Quakers. She is a three-time All-American and the school record holder in the steeplechase.
Claire and her husband Rob, also a co-head cross country and track & field coach, reside in Richmond, with their daughter, Emma.
