RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College men's cross country team heads east for the Inter-Regional Boarder Battler hosted by Rowan University (New Jersey) on Saturday.
The Invitational: The championship 8-kilometer race will begin at approximately 11:45 a.m. with an open 8-kilometer race scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m.
The Coaches: Claire and Rob Hewitt both enter their second seasons at co-head cross country coaches at Earlham. Last season, the Hewitt's led the Quakers to a sixth-place finish in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) conference. Prior to coming to Earlham, Claire worked at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant women's cross country coach while Rob had been a high school cross country and track & field coach at national powerhouse Germantown Friends High School (Pennsylvania) since 2004.
The Runners: Earlham has run one 8-kilometer course this season at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships back on Sept. 15. Senior Gabriel Penk (27:18.9) and freshman Nate Papachristos (27:53.3) were the Quakers' top two finishers. Freshmen Noah Scherf (28:44.0) and Bineyam Tumbo (29:12.5) along with sophomore Oliver Daniel (29:46.9) also finished the course in under 30 minutes.
